Hey everyone, i’m still here! I know its been a long while since my last post. It’s the end of the year and it feels like the time went by so quickly. I started this blog last year, right around this time so I thought it would be a good to reflect on the past year and the future of my blog and my social media. If any of you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that platform is where I’m the most active. Over the past few months I’ve really started to make more of an effort to post consistently on Instagram. So here are a few things i’ve learned in the past few months about social media.
- There are a lot of games being played! I did some research on ways to gain followers on Instagram and I found a lot of posts and videos with “tricks” people will spam follow hundreds and thousand of people, then unfollow. There are apps out there to see who followed you back, who unfollowed you etc… Even ones that automate the whole process (which I consider cheating) So if you ever notice many accounts following you then suddenly your followers go down again, it’s mostly likely these follow games where people follow you so you will follow them or some kind of automated bot.
- Being consistent is important. I’ve heard this many times, and I’m sure some of you have as well. But remaining consistent with anything is the key to success. Social media is all about standing out and getting attention, there is so much content and it’s easy to fall to the bottom if you are inconsistent. People can’t find you if you don’t post!
- It’s not easy! Creating a blog post or other content to share that you can feel good about and be proud of is not fast and it’s not easy; especially if you are trying to remain consistent. Even more so with YT videos, I really admire the YouTubers who can plan, shoot and edit their videos consistently and put out great content!
- Vlogs are extra difficult! So, Ive made 2 or 3 videos for You Tube, and I’ve taken most of them down. Because I was not completely happy with the way they turned out. Maybe in the far far future i’ll try a Vlog again, but for now i’m hoping to get some look book and other lifestyle themed videos up. Do any of you post vlog style videos?
So what is in store for the future? Well, just renewed this site for another year and I have been working on a handful of new blog posts and trying to plan a bit better. I’m hoping this year I’ll be more disciplined with my posts. It’s so easy to become discouraged when you see 1 or 2 lonely views, but it’s important to keep going if it’s what you want to do and not focus too much of the followers and likes. What is your opinion on the points I made above? I hope you all have a wonderful new year. See you in 2018!
